Be interesting to see if we learn anything about how to deal with future epidemics from the disastrous response to this one.  The research is very clear that lockdowns, for example, which were never used before, did not slow transmission or improve outcomes.  More evidence piled up this week.  First, a paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research on the effect of the lockdowns.  This is getting to be old hat, because once more we see that they certainly didn’t prevent deaths, from CV-19 or from other causes.  (NBER Paper)   The findings from this paper are quite startling in their rejection of any beneficial effect of “shelter in place” or lockdown policies on mortality.

The authors start by noting that even prior to lockdown orders, individuals had voluntarily changed behaviors, so the issue is what incremental value, if any, was created by the orders.  And they note that these shelter-in-place orders can cause adverse effects to health and increase mortality through a variety of mechanisms.  The effect of the orders was assessed in 43 countries and all 50 US states, with the primary outcome of interest being excess deaths from all causes.  And the headline finding was that not only did shelter-in-place orders not reduce excess deaths, they may have increased them.  There was a slightly different pattern internationally and in the US.  Overseas, the excess deaths increased after lockdowns were ordered and stayed above predicted levels.  In the US, excess deaths increased at first, but then declined after about 20 weeks.  In the countries with lockdowns, excess deaths had been trending downward prior to the lockdown, then reversed course.  In the US, there was no pre-existing trend prior to lockdown.

The second is an article which lays bare the pathetic rationale and bad thought processes behind lockdowns.  (Frontiers Article)   The author, who initially supported lockdowns, summaries the lack of efficacy of lockdowns and the multiple harms inflicted by them.  His conclusion is that lockdowns damaged the population’s well-being far more than the epidemic did and that our supposed leaders failed to act in the best interest of all the people.

Let’s be clear.  The lockdowns weren’t adopted on the basis of any scientific research.  It was pure panic and herd mentality from our political leaders and health care experts.  They were idiots and they should admit their idiocy, so that we don’t repeat the same mistake in the future.

Idiots admit their idiocy??? Not a chance…

I’d wager a significant minority of Americans disregarded the idiotic lockdowns. I know my 30-and-over baseball league started 6 weeks late last year but once underway we played 2-3 games each week through September and went to bars and restaurants indoors after almost every game. The only unusual thing in those places was the utter lack of other customers and the masks on the employees. The bars had a few more customers once football season started. And this is in areas where there were no riots. So that could account for the different results in the US.

When you understand that this had absolutely NOTHING to do with a virus or a pandemic or medicine you will begin to see the truth. This was about nothing but politics from beginning to end. Take a somewhat nasty flu variation, pump up the fear with manipulated models, gas lighting and lots of lies, throw in government agencies like the NIH and CDC whose leadership is completely filled with members of the liberal uniparty and you have both the match and the fuel.
The politicians of the liberal uniparty (all D’s and many R’s) needed a way to stop Trump and regain total control. They found it in a virus from chyna. They used agencies like the CDC to push fake data and models and then also used their complete dominance and control of major media to mount a propaganda campaign to convince people that the pandemic was real and that it was deadly to one and all. They destroyed trillions of dollars throughout the world and ruined many lives – but in the process they regained the power they seek along with access to trillions in gov’t cash and they also filled their pockets and the pockets of the corporate cronies with additional trillions in cash. They won, we lost.
When you have a hard time believing that people can do these things, just remind yourself that there are trillions of dollars at stake.

  • True believers of the scam-demic do not see a disastrous response, after Jan 20. prior to that date, the scam-demic gave them the tools (mail-in voting) to win a national election

Well said Ivan … bigger picture is the World Monetary Fund, Blackrock, Vanguard and the Non-Profits that blindly funnel most of the billions you are referring to into these pockets. People can take to the streets and boohoo about the 1%’rs all they want. They run the game and they will always win at the game they designed and rule over. I think our rulers have done a brilliant job of architecting an equity investment system, mutual funds being the entry point for the masses, and eroding all other forms of ROI via interest rate control and debt. We are all stuck funding the same entities that are in control … who’s going to pull the plug trying to teach these guys a lesson? We’re all whores to this system …

Sydney and the state of New South Wales in Australia is in lockdown again (I believe their third?). Is this their plan in perpetuity? How is this sustainable? And if it’s so effective why does it need constant repeating?
