The Latest Generations of Kids Have Issues

Abigail Shrier has written a wonderful book, called Bad Therapy, which I strongly encourage you to read.  Not technical, an easy read.  And the Wall Street Journal, the last of the major newspapers not to completely fall into wokedom, has a short version essay.  Her point is that kids in many ways are being mollycoddled and not developing resiliency and a sense of their own ability to handle difficult situations.  Same goes for a lot of adults as far as I can tell.  Many children, however, especially poor and minority ones, have a parent or parents who actually don’t really care for them.  These kids are facing lots of difficulty, with no love and support.  That isn’t a good recipe either and accounts for why we have many teen criminals and drug addicts.

And of course there is social media.  And schools.  School used to be kind of a safe place where the emphasis actually was on learning.  Now they are indoctrination factories and anxiety producers.  Teaching kids that the world is burning up and being environmentally destroyed.  Teaching them that there are 800 genders they can choose from, instead of being happy the way they were born.  Sexualizing them at an early age, particularly in regard to gay sex.  And completely failing to teach them the basics that will help them succeed in any work they might wish to do.  And we wonder why home schooling is soaring.  Anyway, read the essay, read the book.   (WSJ Essay)
