In a convoluted transaction, EHR and other health care software vendor Cerner is investing $266 million in Essence Holdings, which owns population health vendor Lumeris and operates primary care clinics. The companies will also work toward creation of a software product aimed at Medicare Advantage plans.
EXLService Holdings, a general analytics firm, is buying Scio Health Analytics, a vendor of data warehousing and analytics for health providers and plans, for $236 million.
Centauri Health Solutions, which provides revenue optimization and quality of care services to providers and plans, is acquiring NHI Billing Services, which offers revenue management and billing services to health systems in regard to Medicaid.

Okay, so now everyone in the pharmacy business can officially freak out, Amazon said it will buy PillPack for about $1 billion. PillPack bundles drugs and ships them to patients who buy online. I don't think that is actually much of a threat to the Walgreens and CVS' of the world.
