That misspelling in the headline for those of you who haven’t kept up with the Minnesota billion dollar scams, was in the name of one of the fraudulent institutions. But it is typical of what children in Minnesota learn even in the actual schools. A recent report of test results, and understand that these tests are pretty dumbed-down, found that there are 16 schools in Minnesota in which not one child does math at grade level. Parents should be beyond outraged. Only 45% of students across the state did math at the expected level. Our teachers and administrators can’t even get half of the kids whose education they are responsible for to learn basic math. Most of these schools are in the Twin Cities area and often serve poor and minority students, and those students need the good education the most. Average spending per pupil at these schools is an astounding $25,000 a year, far above the state average, so money isn’t the problem. (CAE Post)
Another post gives broader results from the tests, showing continued pathetic performance in reading as well. It is a disgrace for the state. (CAE Post)
