Little Timmy Walz and his Dem cohorts in the state legislature went wild four years ago and unleashed a massive new spending burst. They paid for it with a huge new round of tax and fee increases. As we know now, a lot of that money went to fraudsters. And it turns out that all these wonderful new spending programs are costing way more than projected. The paid medical leave program is substantially over budget. Free school meals, even for rich kids, is similarly a disaster, costing 50% more than projected. Of course we don’t know how much it might really be costing to provide the meals to actual students, since like all Minnesota state programs this one is likely riven with fraud. So now the state is looking at a several billion dollar budget deficit for the next biennium. But if Dems win control of the legislature, they intend to spend even more, and raise taxes even more. And then they can’t figure out why so many Minnesotans with businesses and money are leaving the state. But hey, on the other hand we lead the country in attracting fraudsters, especially immigrant fraudsters. (JP Post)
