Little Timmy likes to claim that Minnesota is a wonderful family friendly state, where your children can get indoctrinated in whacked left-wing ideology and be sexually mutilated for life. But the truth is that this state is unaffordable for young families. A study analyzed how much money a family of four would need to have as annual income to live “comfortably”. This is based on spending 50% on necessities, 30% discretionary spending and saving in various forms of around 20%. It assumes both parents are working. The highest state, as you might imagine, is Massachusetts at $330,000 followed by Hawaii, California, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. Notice any trend about who governs these states. In fact you have to get to Alaska at number 11 before you find a state that some of the time is run by Reps.
Family-friendly Minnesota weighs in at $263,000, number 14, but just a few thousand short of cracking the top ten, which I am sure we could do if the Dems stay in control another four years. Our immense tax burden is the main contributor to the cost of living here. On the other end of the scale, all the lowest cost states are run by Reps. And there you have the explanation for the vast movement from blue states to red ones.
