More Rational Talk on Forest Fires

By July 29, 2026Commentary2 min read

With European and US heat waves this summer, the hysterics are going bananas, particularly in trying to link those to global warming.  Unfortunately for them, as usual the facts don’t fit the hysteric narrative.  Some brave souls still rise to the occasion of correcting the narrative.  Paul Homewood is one of those and in this post he corrects misinformation about the European fires, which certainly aren’t unprecedented.  One of the things he points out is that humans cause the vast majority of forest fires and not through use of fossil fuels.  Some of that fire setting is intentional and some is done by climate activists trying to advance their cause.  More humans, more forests and more humans in forests is apparently a recipe for more fires.  The same phenomenon is found in the US.

The second factor, widely acknowledged by just about everyone, is that forests have been very poorly managed, including by preventing the natural cycle of fires that helped limit fuel quantities that create the truly large fires.  European environmental activists, like those in the US, pushed for those policies and are now responsible for this immense environmental damage.  Not that they will be held accountable.  (PH Post)
