People who are full of themselves often do stupid things, because they lack any self-awareness. Stupid things like keep a diary giving your actual thoughts about events you are involved in. Some of the media are treating the release of the Anthony Fauci diaries as a revelation about the man and his actions during the CV-19 epidemic. I recall vividly that the first time I saw him on TV I knew he was a preening jackass and a likely liar, as are most of those who are deluded about their self-importance. Lying is a core tactic to maintain the delusion. While Fauci made some horrible decisions and deserves opprobrium, I don’t blame him nearly as much as another group.
It is the politicians, who were all too willing to swallow the bullshit spewed by Fauci and others, who are to blame for the absurd restrictions placed on our economy and on daily life. Restrictions that led to immense damage to children and to our public finances, while doing nothing to slow, much less stop, the spread of the epidemic. Anyone who took any time to study past respiratory virus epidemics would have recognized the futility of the actions Fauci and others advocated. But those who pointed out the futility and the damage of these restrictions were vilified and silenced.
And many politicians eagerly took up the mantle of dictatorship. Our own Little Timmy Walz, the Incompetent Blowhard hisself, now recognized as America’s foremost liar, ran a vicious terror campaign to justify his draconian shutdown of businesses, schools and any normal activity. He constantly exaggerated the danger posed by the virus and the effectiveness of shutdowns, masks, and other restrictions he imposed. He flat-out lied about almost every aspect of the epidemic. Little Timmy and other politicians are fully to blame for what was done to the country and they apparently will never be held accountable. But then that is what politics is all about these days, enact terrible policies and then deny any responsibility for the outcome.
While the politicians certainly are to blame for the dictatorship roles they played, Fauci, Brix et al are definitely to blame since their outright lies encouraged and provided justification (false justification) for the protocols that were implemented.
As you noted, Knowledge of past history should have provided sufficient insight to futility of the mitigation protocols. One big example is masking and the basic knowledge of fluid dynamics. All fluids seek the path of least resistance. That alone should have alerted an informed person that the airflow was going through the sides of the mask, not through the mask.
I will also note, as covid knowledge was becoming known and evolving based on new information that you were generally 6 months to 12 month ahead of what was being known among the general public or acknowledge by the CDC or other health organization. . You and I both know the vax effectiveness very low after 6 months which we both knew by july of 2021, yet it wasnt acknowledged by the Faux experts for another 12 months.
Lastly, there are still going to be so called medical experts that will still worship Fauci and gang.
Thanks, I always have read your advice and comments ever since CV-19. What my take is that people in power lie to maintain or gain prestige and more power. Being a skeptic is indeed healthy and wise.
As much as I hate most politicians, I think you are too hard on them. Fauci and his kind deserve far more of the blame. Yes, the politicians merit opprobrium for trammeling on the rights of the citizenry. And far too many of them were only too happy to do so.
But a special place in hell needs to be reserved for the experts who knew better and lied about what they knew. They knew that covid was no worse than a bad flu, that lockdowns would do no good and that closing schools would do great damage. The public and the politicians placed their trust in Fauci and his ilk. That was not unreasonable; in the face of illness, people trust their doctors. Fauci and the rest betrayed that trust.
What enabled the likes of Walz, Lujan Grisham, Cuomo, et al. to impose their reigns of terror was the fact that the EXPERTS were insisting that it was essential and that it was based on solid SCIENCE (that one needs a gothic font). If the experts had been telling the truth, rather than suppressing it, most people would not have gone along and few, if any, politicians would have had the guts to impose such draconian measures. Politicians blow with the wind. During covid, Fauci controlled the wind. And an ill wind it was.
Absolutely Kevin. Right now Rand Paul is regaling in Fauci but he was just a tool and to think our own Mayo Clinic gave him an honorary degree and invited him to speak at graduation for their medical programs. It’s quite appalling.
