Canada has had pathetic forest management practices and it has led to big fires this year. The US has had similar problems with allowing periodic burns that mimic natural fire cycles. Of course because the Canadian fires have created smoke that drifted down to much of the US and because it is warm in the upper Midwest and East Coast, of course we are getting all kinds of nonsense about global warming causing more fires. You aren’t reading about the fact that the Arctic is having one of the coolest summers on record, with little melting or that other parts of the world are cooler than normal. Funny how that works.
In any event, people who actually read the historic data have noted, with no acknowledgment by the mainstream media, that the level of fires this year, as measured by acres burned, is actually lower than normal. The US experienced exceptional fires back in the 1930s in particular, but of course that was before the global warming hype, so it gets ignored. Here is an article that gives a far more balanced and accurate view of fires and smoke and global warming. The data cited would be easily available to any journalist who cared about the truth. It includes data from the International Panel on Climate Change, a hysterics forum, showing that acres burned have actually declined in recent decades and other reputable sources to the same end result.
