Explain this Educational Conundrum

By July 18, 2026Commentary1 min read

Minnesota officials, including of course Little Timmy Walz, are trumpeting a supposed increase in high school graduation rates.  At the same time, student performance on standardized tests is plummeting to even more abysmal levels.  How can the two co-exist?  Easy, just give everyone a diploma whether they learned anything or not.  A post at the Center for the American Experiment explores the issue in more detail.  The most alarming fact is that 65%, that is right, two-thirds, of 11th graders cannot do math at that grade level.  In a tech driven world and economy, that is disgusting.  And it is likely even worse than that, because 23% of students didn’t take the test and those students almost certainly would not have have passed, so it is really around 73%.  Other tests show similar results.   Minnesota’s teachers for years have been far more interested in political indoctrination than education and it shows.
