Dems lie about everything, it is a core part of how they hope to stay in power despite literally crazy policies, like mandating renewable energy. If you believed the lies you would think solar and wind power are environmentally friendly, reliable, and cheap. As usual, when Dems pimp some policy, you can assume the opposite is true and it cerainly is here. A new paper from a more conservative think tank focussed on energy costs points out the unpleasant truth that states that have adopted renewable mandates have higher electricity costs and most (really all) of those states are Dem run. Electricity prices in general have increased much faster than general inflation over the last five years, but the increase is concentrated in states with renewable mandates. Interesting to compare Florida, which has very high demand but low prices, with California and New York.
And for Minnesotans, there is a clear warning, as we now have a 100% renewables mandate and other stupid policies regarding electricity generation. We used to have relatively low electricity rates, but have already moved up to the 22nd highest prices and our prices are increasing very rapidly as cheap coal and gas plants are phased out. As I always say, the only affordability issue is the cost of government, both directly and in policies that make everything expensive when you live in a Dem-run state. (IER Paper)
