Anyone who says marijuana is harmless is lying and anyone who says it was legalized because it is harmless is lying and if they are a legislator, they did it to get contributions from the industry, taxes for reckless government spending and votes from stoners. It was known before legalization began that THC was very dangerous, especially to young people’s mental health. Since legalization, a cascade of research has been published demonstrating a number of physical health issues as well. There is no reason for this product to be legal and there is no reason for anyone to be using it. Supposedly medical marijuana is basically an unproven fraud and there are better alternatives for medical issues.
A new study in Lancet Psychiatry looked at the consequences of various international legalization efforts. Looking at multiple countries, the authors found that commercialization of marijuana let to more use and more addictions which required treatment for addiction and more hospitalizations for psychosis related to marijuana use. As I have said before, it is inexcusable to be doing this to our teens and young adults. (Lancet Study)
