We have a pretty open democracy and government in the US. It has been clear for a long time that foreign governments and individuals abuse that openness to both weaken the US and obtain advantages for themselves. The US has been slow to address this threat, largely because the Dems welcome the actions of many of these groups and have goals similar to them. America-hating Dems are happy to help our foreign adversaries. But under the leadership of some Congresspeople and Secretary of the Treasury Bessent, action is finally being taken and a key part will be to be sure that the American people understand just how pervasive this hostile interference has been and how it all works.
A recent hearing set out a number of details on how foreign governments use our non-profit organizations and the laws governing them to advance their objectives. These people work in conjunction with the whacked US billionaires like the Soros to fund innocuous sounding groups which advance policy aims to hurt the US and which fund violent protests. You can get a sense of how far-flung these efforts are by reading this post at Zero Hedge, but there are a number of other sources which have begun detailing the misuse of nonprofit groups. What should be really infuriating is that a number of state governments give grants to these same groups to help them destroy our democracy and our freedoms. (ZH Post)
