Our governor, the despicable King Walz, is about the biggest liar in the world. Not only does he lie, but he selectively picks out information and distorts it to paint a false picture of Minnesota. He recently was bragging because Minnesota was ranked by WalletHub as the second-best state to raise a family. As always you have to look at the underlying data and algorithms for these things and when you do that, and when you look at actual meaningful data you see something very different. The biggest tipoff is that Minnesota for years has lost working age families to other states.
The WalletHub study was done by a group of woke academics who are supposed experts, so you would expect their criteria to be designed to rank Dem-run states high. The five categories were family fun (what family moves somewhere due to entertainment options?), health and safety, education and child care, affordability and socio-economic factors. Looking at the individual measures under the categories confirms that this skews to what might concern a whacked left-winger and ignores some other items, like actual test scores. And there is no adjustment for demographic factors, like race. Minnesota supposedly scores high on each category. Affordability is a complete joke, we have the highest cost of government anywhere and it hits middle-class families especially hard. We have very high child care costs. We have really high health care costs. Safety—the metro area is a crime-ridden hellhole and child drug use is a constant problem. Education–see below, but the state cares about nothing but indoctrination. (WH Rankings)
Now, King Walz won’t talk about other ratings from WalletHub. Here is one–value for the money you send to government, all those taxes and fees. Minnesota ranks 37, it should be dead last if all the fraud were included. (WH Study) Here is another one–best states to start a business. Minnesota is 41st, as you might imagine because of regulatory burden and taxes, but new businesses fail at a really high rate in Minnesota. (WH Study)
Today’s Star Tribune, which always can be counted on to spread any lie or misinformation to help whacked Dems, has a story about the state supposedly hitting a new high for graduation rates. What you won’t read in the story is that, in common with most Dem-run states, Minnesota has adopted policies designed to just pass children through classes regardless of their work effort or accomplishment and give them diplomas. The Dems don’t care if children learn to read, write or do math; they only care if they are indoctrinated in the Dems whacked ideology and vote for them. This can be seen in a far more telling metric; the steady decline in scores on reading and math proficiency, now far below the national average and the scores in most Southern states. The Wall Street Journal has a story today about families moving to Florida for the educational opportunity for their children.
So as usual you can assume that the opposite of what King Walz and his butt-sniffing rag the Star Tribune say is true. And as I said above, the best measure is that working age families are leaving the state.
