As I frequently note, climate hysteria is grounded in trying to scare the shit out of people with fears of cities sinking into the ocean, every forest on earth burning up, reefs bleaching, etc. All supposedly due to human emissions of CO2. The hysteria ship is slowly sinking, as people realize that the proposed solutions truly are incredibly damaging to standards of living, Germany being exhibit A. You have to read between the lines of some research to understand how it undermines the hysteric case. The authors of this study looked at plankton in the tropical Atlantic Ocean during rapid warming events in a past era, the Eocene, centered about 50 million years ago. Don’t ask me to explain the confidence interval for attempting to discern outcomes that long ago with proxies. In any event, apparently the plankton did just fine with rapid warming equivalent to as much as 3 degrees Farenheit. And please look at this, all this rapid warming occurred naturally, no humans around to pump that villainous CO2 into the atmosphere. Of course, the authors have to add the obligatory hysterical note that we may be approaching a warming threshhold that does cause disruption.
