A Few Days of the Anti-Strib, December 27, 2025

By December 27, 2025Commentary4 min read

I am going away for a few days so I will be blessed with not reading this abomination of a non-news source, but then I will be punished on my return by having to read multiple weeks at once.  One thing you can count on from the Strib is unwavering dedication to the woke ideology, the Dem party and not telling the truth and nothing but the truth.  Current themes remain the same, largely cribbed from national far-left sources, since the Strib can longer afford to, and doesn’t want to, do real local journalism.

In a way that has become laughable and made the paper a national laughing stock, the editors at the Strib are doing their best to deny the scope of fraud against government programs in Minnesota and somehow even blame conservatives.  It isn’t working, as the scandal becomes bigger by the day and draws attention to the astounding waste of taxpayer money.

The other primary ongoing theme is how bad enforcement of immigration laws is and how heroic those who defend criminal illegal immigrants are.  Our governor, who is a confirmed idiot at this point and seems blissfully unaware of what a clown he is believed to be even by those in his own party, and the mayor of Minneapolis are actively inviting violence against immigration enforcement agents.  Thus we see misleading headlines like the federal government wants to “warehouse” “immigrants”.  This is funny because for years Dems have complained about the conditions under which illegal immigrants are detained.  So now the federal government wants to build a better, centralized facility for that purpose.

Let’s see, what other mis-information is the paper spreading.  Students who borrowed money to go to a worthless college program might actually be expected to pay back that money.  Shocking.  Of course, the issue that is never explored is why college costs are so high and have grown so fast.  Can’t explore that because universities are the source of the extreme left whacked ideology to which the Strib editors subscribe.  Desperately still trying to somehow tie Trump to Epstein, while ignoring the widespread Dem connections and obvious participation in abuse. Banning the sexual mutilation of children is bad, as the paper reprints an Associated Press story which repeats the blatant lies about sex assigned at birth and gender being different from sex.

Charitable contributions are down from federal employees, which is somehow Trump’s fault.  There are fewer federal employees, which is a very good thing.  Extreme left-wing artists are refusing to perform at the Kennedy Center since Trump decided to add his name to it (and that is exactly the kind of egotistical gesture I wish Trump would abandon.).  It is terrible that CBS News has hired a lead editor who actually intends to try to only air stories that are completely accurate and objective, instead of focussing on bashing Trump.

Trump is hurting the environment by suspending offshore wind projects.  The truth is that those projects are incredibly damaging to the environment throughout their life cycle.  Trump is only going after Venezuela’s leader because he wants that country’s oil.  The Strib has descended to defending one of the most brutal dictators in the world, one who has enriched himself by exporting drugs to the US.   Not much focus on “affordability” since new reports show strong economic growth and lowering inflation.

Locally, under-reporting of our ongoing crime wave continues, as well as restaurant and business closings and the general decline of the state’s economy.  A headline about two retiring Dem legislators says they are leaving a “rich legacy.”  It should just say they are leaving rich, as somehow Dems always seem to make a lot of money while in office.

And of course, I can’t ignore the pathetic pleas of the Strib publisher, Steve Grove, an extreme leftist former member of Little Timmy Walz’ cabinet, for everyone to help support “quality” journalism.  I agree with him that we need to do that, so everyone, including me, should stop reading and buying his newspaper, which is the antithesis of journalism, is nothing but shilling for whacked Dem policies and ignoring the damage they are causing locally and nationally.

Thanks again for critique. Someday make mention of so-called sports section. Several articles on day old Vikes and Wolves. Only mention of Gophs is Gophers vs. New Mexico, late. I don’t have words to compare this attempt to the real sports sections in past.
