Scientists who do research that is contrary to the hysterical narrative typically have to caveat it in some way to get published, but the main message is still clear. This study looked at a variety of proxy temperature measures over the last 2000 years and basically concludes that there is nothing unusual about recent supposedly warmer temperatures; temperatures which largely reflect the influence of urbanization. Not only that, but they draw the obvious conclusion that human civilization has advanced during warmer periods and declined during cooler ones. Over this particular period, they find that extensive volcanic action is linked to cooling, as it tends to throw large numbers of particulates in the air which have a cooling effect by reflecting solar rays.
The highest levels of warming, comparable to today, occurred in the 280s, 990s and 1020s AD. Cooling periods were associated with famines, plague outbreaks and political unrest. You don’t say. Please note that this reconstruction uses some of the same proxy tricks so thoroughly destroyed by Steve McIntyre and has the same hockey stick in the modern era. Please note that before the fake hockey stick, temps have been trending down for a long time. So enjoy the warmth, at any moment things could get cooler and a whole lot worse.
