Thursday brings us the latest breathless headline on the supposedly wrongfully deported gang member. Still waiting for the Strib to inform its readers that the Biden administration believed this individual to be a gang member, that there are official police and immigration documents revealing that, that he was believed to be involved in human smuggling and that he had a restraining order out for domestic abuse. Just the kind of lovely human being Dems love to celebrate. You really can’t find a better hero?
More on federal spending “cuts”, which are usually just reductions to spending growth. In this case for health and human services, there is grossly excessive bureaucracy and crazy grants to states and others. But the big picture is we can either do something drastic to fix our deficit problem now, or we will be forced to do something really bad in future years. Inside we find one of these completely wasteful grants–to document Indian boarding school abuses. If this is so important, the Native American tribes that are flush with gambling money can spend some of it on the topic.
The UK’s highest court concludes that obvious–sex and gender are determined by biology. The Strib is shocked just shocked that common sense and real science prevail and the court didn’t cater to the delusions of individuals who think they can change biology.
More stories about everything Trump does is bad, but activist whacked Dem judges are pushing back, until the Supreme Court stops them.
Friday is basically more of the same, continuing on the courts standing up to Trump’s bad actions theme. DOGe is doing bad stuff, which is shockingly followed by a story relating to the widespread incompetence of government in Minnesota. A licensing app for outdoor activities that has been in the works since 2021 is delayed yet again and is of course millions over budget. We could really use DOGE in Minnesota.
Trump is violating Harvard’s civil rights. How about Harvard for years, decades, has practiced illegal racial, religious and sex discrimination and has forced staff and students to adhere to woke ideology pledges and has suppressed the free speech and free discussion of topics. Hospitals might go broke because of federal cuts. What cuts? There are no cuts to actual Medicare or Medicaid payments. How about hospitals should look at their excessive administrative staff and cut insane executive compensation.
