The Anti-Strib, March 23, 2025

By March 23, 2025Commentary2 min read

The most outrageous item in today’s paper is  the op-ed on the state’s CV-19 response by Jan Malcolm, the health commissioner at the time.  It is a complete fabrication about the nature of the state’s response coupled with a abysmal failure to acknowledge the damage done, much less apologize for it.

People are falling through the cracks, in regard to mental illness.  This story deals with a serious issue, the inability to institutionalize people who really cannot be out in society at large for their own safety or others’, and about the pain caused by these policies to families.  Some decades ago the whacked pro(re)gressives of the time made it almost impossible to institutionalize people with serious mental illness, imposing the burden on families and leading to a massive rise in homelessness.  But you won’t read that history in this story.

A drop in IRS revenue is feared.  That would be a problem, but what is a bigger problem is the complete inefficiency with which the IRS operates–obsolete systems and as is usual across the federal government, a large number of inefficient and incompetent staff.  The renewed fighting in Gaza is causing pain for Palestinians.  Too bad, and exactly what you should have anticipated when you supported, and continue to support, the barbaric Hamas organization.  Illegal immigrants are getting kicked out of the country and don’t know what to do.  Too bad, should have come here legally.

More than a dozen federal judges have said Trump’s actions are illegal.  Not a word that these judges are all whacko Obama or Biden appointees, fundamentally acting in a political fashion.  Weather forecasts are threatend by DOGE cuts.  No they aren’t, again, outdated systems and processes are inefficient–we will end up with a better product at far lower cost.

Your words are absolute Truth. I have subscribed to the Star Tribune for 35 years and when my subscription is up June 01 I am DONE. this paper has gone from readable to absolute trash and lies, no journalism and most of all no factual truth regarding how poorly the state has faired since Governor Dayton forward to present day,

I once knew a guy who worked for the IRS and he would tell all our friends how much money everybody made.
