The entire renewable energy scam, which is designed to deliver hundreds of billions of dollars to the wealthy who in turn give in to Dem candidates, is based on climate hysteria. We have to eliminate cheap reliable coal and gas, and nuclear, power and instead do what Germany did and ruin our economy by going to environmentally damaging, expensive and unreliable solar and wind power. Here is a perfect example of how dumb Germany was to decomission all its nuclear and coal plants. The country put wind and solar plants everywhere, including a lot of offshore wind in the North Sea. Offshore wind is the absolute dumbest–very expensive to build, very prone to damage, very expensive to repair, harms marine life, likely changes the microclimate. And Germany has just had to decommission its first offshore wind facility, far ahead of its supposed useful life. Why? Because without massive subsidies, the power produced by the wind farm is highly unprofitable.
I think, certainly hope, the Trump Administration will stop all this nonsense, refuse to allow any new offshore, or onshore for that matter, wind farms to be built. We have more gas than we can possibly use, we could have very reliable and cheap nuclear power; that is where we should be focusing our energy policy. Wind farms aren’t just expensive and unreliable, they kill millions of birds and bats every year, the equipment is environmentally destructive to manufacture and dispose of and these large wind farms actually change the micro-climate.
Did you see we have another retailer going out of business? Forever 21. I never shopped there but this is a sign. Rent and utilities will drove more and more retailers to fold. Utilities coats are going to drive ever upward with the false promise of wind and solar and the pretense that the utilities are going green.
Correct – Offshore wind is excessively expensive

renewable energy advocates routinely cite Lazard’s LCOE (levelized cost of energy) to push the theme that renewable energy is cheaper. Yet it is a very deceptive measurement of cost of electric generation.
Judith curry’s website as several posts on renewable energy written by Russel S, who is retired grid engineer, thus an actual expert. Well worth reading. His articles are very informative. I have provided a link below to one of many articles.

Not that I think it is possible, if unsubsidized wind-energy projects (including any transmission connections) can compete in the energy market, then let them compete. Let a buyer decide how to achieve reliability with a long-term contract or even day-ahead market. A project selling into a real-time market faces likely prices of zero (or negative)during the daytime in sunny parts of the nation, which makes it not pencil out well.
Not subsidizing wind projects is one key to fairness. The other is not subsidizing the buyers.
