The Anti-Strib, February 28, 2025

By February 28, 2025Commentary4 min read

Like most newspapers today, our local version, the grandiose “Minnesota” Star Tribune, is a wildly left-wing rag, a literal mouthpiece for the Dem party in its current whacked incarnation.  It is bad enough that the editorial page is filled with this tripe, but it intentionally filters the “news” pages as well.  So Minnesotans don’t get objective reporting and analysis, they get the daily Dem screed.  I have pretty much had enough, so I am going to on a regular basis, not every day probably, point out some of the obvious journalism failures of the paper.

Let’s start with one thing not reported on.  The paper is run by a former member of the Walz administration and has made it job one to protect Fat Timmy from his egregious lies and misdeeds, like letting billions in taxpayer dollars be stolen and wasted.  Fat Timmy was caught calling Republicans Nazis and Facists.  When questioned about it, he claimed to be referencing some event in Ohio, but he is on tape and it had nothing to do with that and a local TV network departed from the norm of deferring to Fat Timmy’s lies, which completely flustered him.  But not a word of this in the Strib, which has its marching orders–nothing can make the Incompetent Blowhard look bad.

Then look at the lead editorial column by the vacuous radical who is head of the Strib’s opinion page.  A list of kudos and pans–all the kudos are for whacked pro(re)gressive items and all the pans for centrist ideas.  Look at the descriptions–all misrepresent the action discussed.  Par for the course for both this editor and the paper.  Don’t even bother looking at the rest of the op-eds, they are all party-line–Dems are good, conservatives are bad.

Now look at the biggest headline on the front page–“Signs of Strain as Tariffs, Cuts Begin”. No story involving the Trump administration ever has any positive headline or content.  No mention of the huge deficit, the massive amount of government waste and fraud, the unfair trade actions other countries take against us.

Now look at the other top of the front page headline–about how Minnesota needs immigrant workers, especially illegal ones.  Unstated–Minnesota’s whacked Dem government for 16 years has made the state unaffordable and unliveable, so Minnesota has seen a steady and growing outflow of workers and businesses to more friendly climates–i.e. Texas, Florida, even Wisconsin.

Inside page–Iowa is ending transgender civil rights, no the civil rights of transgender people haven’t been eliminated, but they no longer get special treatment as a separate class and they can no longer foist their delusion about their sex on other people.  Let’s be really honest, these people are mentally ill and delusional by definition.  They are the last group that should get special treatment.  What they need is real mental health help, but the mental health profession has been infested with unscientific whacked ideologues for decades.

Keep going, every other story about the Trump administration or the Republican controlled Congress is framed in negative terms.  On page 4 we find the obligatory reference to some conservative party somewhere in the world as “far right”.  Please let me know the first time you see reference to a “far left” party.
