2024 has been a wonderful year for the climate hysterics. Relatively warm temperatures and a few hurricanes to boot, with a lot of flooding. Must be all that CO2 China and India are pumping out. Or maybe not. The warmth appears to be related to a specific event which had substantial effects on the entire earth’s climate system. In January of 2022, an underwater volcano near Tonga exploded, sending an incredible amount of water into the atmosphere. Water vapor is actually the most common and strongest gas in terms of causing warming by redirecting reflected solar energy toward the earth’s surface. Even shortly after the eruption, some scientists were predicting that it would cause warming. The eruption may or may not be linked to lower levels of cloud cover in the period since it occurred and that change could also be linked to the warming, as clouds also reflect some incoming solar rays back to space. As usual, the climate is complicated, and certainly not as simple as more CO2 equals more warmth. (WUWT Post)
Meanwhile the hysterics want us to move everything to electricity generated by sun and wind–very expensive and very unreliable sources. And as I have reported before, Mother Nature does not like the plants which produce this non-renewable energy. Here is another story of solar panels being obliterated in a storm. And a few wind turbines had problems in the same storm. Wonder how environmentally friendly all that debris is? And where will the power come from to replace what has been destroyed so quickly? England is headed down the same path as Germany–extremely expensive electricity which is often in short supply. (DS Story)
Anglesey North Wales is located at the 53rd parallel latitude which means during the winter months, its capacity factor is approximately 3%-5% of total capacity. During summer, with the longer days albeit with direct sun lower in the horizon, the actual capacity factor is barely 30% with total annual capacity of around 16%
As comparison, the capacity factor for solar for minneapolis (45th parallel latitude) is around 7% during winter with annual capacity factor of around 18-19%
In other words, the solar farm was near complete worthlessness before the storm
I have to laugh – I wend to the DS Story link on the solar panel / wind turbine damage. Ha, the Daily Skeptic site – must be a favorite for you.
