Okay, we can all be relieved and even happy that we don’t have to endure four more years of Dem insanity at the Federal level. But this election will be wasted if the number one problem facing the country isn’t addressed and addressed forcefully. Trump can’t run again, he doesn’t have to worry about annoying the electorate with good policies that might cause discomfort to some segments of the population. We have to fix our deficit and debt problem. We simply have to. This is not Trump’s strength; he built his businesses on debt. But if we don’t address it, and address it immediately, we will see a resurgence of inflation and we will have difficulty funding important priorities, like national defense. So we all should be watching carefully to see if there is any sense of seriousness in tackling this issue.

Not News to Those of Us Living in Minnesota
A little-known fact about Minnesota won't actually surprise you.
You are most correct. The national debt and the deficits are our biggest concern and they must be addressed. Unfortunately, at this late point the problem will not be resolved without a lot of pain. A lot of government teats need to be removed. It is going to be tough to undo the damage the democrats (and not a few republicans) have inflicted on this country over the decades, not to mention the last 4 years.
I love your astute commentary but I have to disagree with you here.
Future with larger and larger deficits the debt could be a big problem yes.
However the current debt interest payments NOW ,is no more problem than 1993 when adjusted for inflation using the single family home price at 3.75% compounded as a proxy, and adjusted for population size –DO the math !
I agree the size of the debt is a drag on economy probably 20%, it would be better but it is not dangerous at these levels. Nobody has a fuel for the numbers in the ratios compared with history. History repeats and we survived history.
That said I can’t wait for Trump’s better management of the treasury.
