Another Episode of Renewable Energy Follies

By August 1, 2024Commentary

This is too easy, and if it weren’t for the billionaires making trillions more of the scam subsidies, impoverishing the average American, but providing billions in campaign contributions and under-the-table payments to pro(re)gressive politicians, it would be funny.  Right now all you can do is laugh and hope the public catches on before irreversible damage is done.  Anyone who reads any research on the topic knows the truth about renewable energy–particularly wind and solar–expensive, unreliable and environmentally damaging through the whole life cycle.  This report says they cost over 9 times more than other sources of electricity.  I don’t know if that is right but I do know that those (non)renewable sources are driving electricity bills up extremely rapidly.  And the data in this article on the relative costs of electricity for countries in Europe supports that proposition.  (FOS Report)

Roger Pielke Jr is one of the few objective climate scientists in the world.  He writes a blog which you should follow if you want some semblance of the truth on the issue.  In a recent post he undercuts a common trick used by climate hysterics, cherrypicking the start or end date, or both, for an analysis, and selectively picking what parameter to study.  All the posts in this series are worth reading, but in this one, look especially at the chart on dry or wet periods–see any trend there?  No you don’t, but the climate hysterics will constantly talk about the dry periods showing that climate change is leading to constant drought, or wet periods showing that climate change means more extreme rainfall and floods.  They have a lie for every event.  But if you look at real data over a long period of time, what you see occasionally is some climate change–all attributable to natural cycles that are apparent when you do use the appropriate period of time for analysis.  (RP Post)
