Little Timmy’s Paradise Is Losing People and Income

By April 29, 2023May 1st, 2023Commentary

Little Timmy Walz, the Incompetent Blowhard hisself, claims to be making Minnesota into a beacon for the rest of the country.  Apparently a lot of people correctly perceive it to be a beacon to hell.  Minnesota used to be a moderately high tax, high service state.  Sixteen years of Democrat insanity have turned it into a very high tax, very low service, very high waste and fraud state.  Contrary to what Little Timmy seems to think, Minnesotans aren’t stupid, although he working to use the Minnesota school system to make sure they are.  Minnesota is losing population, especially among working age young adults.  But it is also one of the states that is losing income and tax revenue.  A couple of articles describe recent data released by the IRS based on 2020 and 2021 tax data, showing which states gained high-income taxpayers and which states lost them, as well as which states overall gained income and which lost it.  You can likely guess which category Minnesota fell into.   (SA Article)   (ZH Article)

Americans are voting with their feet to go to lower tax states which actually use tax dollars to improve people’s quality of life.  As you probably already know, Florida and Texas in particular are gaining massive numbers of residents from lunatic states like California, New York, Illinois, and, oh, Minnesota.  They are also disproportionately attracting people with lots of income, who pay a lot of taxes and invest to create jobs in the states they live in.  Florida had a net gain of almost $40 billion in gross income among its residents in 2020, and Texas was second with about $11 billion.  Nine of the ten highest income gaining states are run by Republicans.

On the other end, nine out of ten losers, like Minnesota, are Dem run hellholes.  California lost $30 billion in income, while it’s bizarre Governor Newsome trots around the country touting it as a model for the nation, New York $25 billion, Illinois $11 billion.  Minnesota lost about $1.6 billion in income, but given the relatively small size of the state’s population, it was proportionately a very big loss.  When we see 2022 and 2023 data there will be an even greater movement of taxpayers out of our benighted state.  So Little Timmy can lie, as he always does, as much as he wants, but it is clear that his whacko policies are doing immense damage to the state.

One concern is that some people bring their leftist voting habits with them when they move to red states.

For example, you could have a couple of liberals moving from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Austin, Texas.

yeah, I don’t think Texans appreciate that, but they are far outweighed by people who come and register as Republicans and vote conservative

Look on the bright side, we’ll soon have plenty of teens from out of state coming here for their taxpayer funded gender transition surgeries. And if their parents object to it, Keith Ellison and Tim Walz will fight to take their parental rights away from them. That’ll help our economy a great deal. And there’ll now be a low speed train going from Minneapolis to Duluth that’ll probably cost $1 billion by the time cost overruns are figured in (even though it’ll take longer than it does to drive or take a Jefferson Lines bus). And on top of that, weed will be legal and the quality of service we get in restaurants and retail stores will go down dramatically from how bad it already is.
