Once more I am delighted to bring you news of a wonderful health intervention that upon testing shows no impact. This time the testees participated in a randomized clinical trial in which the intervention was a Diabetes Prevention Program with videos, handouts and coaching messages over a 12 month period. Weight loss and self-reported health status were the endpoints. Alas, while the weight loss in the intervention group was somewhat greater than in the control group, it was not clinically significant. And there was no significant difference in the reported health status. Again, may be good for you in any event, but not likely to make a big clinical difference. (JAMA Study)
