Coronamonomania Lives Forever, Part 124

By April 5, 2022Commentary

A few more summaries, as we remain in wind-down mode, although I keep reading stuff by a few die-hards who just don’t want to let go and I still see people wearing masks in cars by themselves.  Sad what this epidemic did to some people’s mental health.

A Swedish study finds that even people who were boosted had high rates of Omicron and similar variant infections and had similar viral loads and periods of infectiousness.  (Medrxiv Paper)

This study claims that widespread distribution and use of rapid antigen tests lowers the total number of cases in a community, but does not identify the actual use of the tests and shows very minor effects, if any at all.  Any number of possible confounders were ignored.  I think wide use of these tests is mischevious and causes unnneccessary anxiety.  (Medrxiv Paper)

England has a highly vaccinated population but continues to experience significant waves of new CV-19 variants, most extremely mild.  Lot of colds.  This paper details the recent waves, which included very high numbers of breakthrough infections and reinfections.   This is the future, folks, it isn’t going away, so how about we just stop with all the testing and reporting.  (Medrxiv Paper)

Remember when the Governor of Minnesota told us that none of the recent deaths from CV-19 were in vaccinated people?  I do, and he was a liar, and still is a liar.  This study estimates the true number of breakthrough deaths across the US and comes up with an ultimate number of around 100,000.  I think the vaccines help limit risk of serious disease and death, but villainizing the unvaxed was and is wrong.  (Medrxiv Paper)

I remain stunned at the fact that ‘experts’ need to do studies to show that an mRNA product and it’s boosters, designed to mimic 1 of the spike proteins of the original ‘virus’, don’t have much if any affect on variants 2 years later. These are supposedly the same bunch of ‘experts’ that release the so called ‘flu’ vaccines every year with different structures to combat variants.
We might as well just turn this into an 8th grade STEM class project and fund these great kids instead of wasting the research grants on a bunch of want-a-be politicians posing as virologists.
