Let’s Party

By December 15, 2021Commentary

I have been thinking for some time that we need some celebration to transition out of epidemic obsession.  We need to get together and mark the end of the epidemic mentally, regardless of what our “leaders” are doing.  I am willing to find and rent something like a local micro-brewery for that purpose and whoever wants can come and we will just hang out and I may talk a little, not much.  Probably early to mid-February for timing, when people are tired of winter and antsy about spring.  I know there are a lot of readers from out-of-state but you would all be invited as well.  We can have our own Sturgis-like superspreader event!!  And who knows, maybe by then sanity will have prevailed.  I doubt it, but you must have hope.  At a minimum be fun to meet many of you in person.

So let me know how you feel about that and any suggestions or thoughts.  I will start checking out potential venues.

I think that sounds like a great idea. Chanhassen Brewing, or Fat Pants in Eden Prairie would be a couple of potential locations.

  • Colonel Travis says:

It’s freezing in Minnesota! Come to Texas, it’s almost 80 degrees as I type this at noon today. I’ll treat you to the best BBQ you’ve ever had.

  • Corey says:

This wouldn’t fit with a local option, but perhaps you would rather celebrate in a completely free state where the actual Sturgis rally is held? Deadwood hosts a Mardi Gras celebration at the end of February. I’m sure you could find a place to rent over the weekend. There are plenty of local breweries available. I’ve heard it’s a lot of fun by people who have attended.

Great idea. Wooden Hill Brewing Company is at 74th and Bush Lake Road in Edina.

Not so fast, they are already cooking up a whole other round of different, Covid linked (of course), mRNA’s to whip us into proper socialists. A new federal database is needed because they have a life-time’s worth of plans for your upper arms.

Trying to stay half serious here, there’s apparently/potentially a link to these 2 viruses in (many) severely ill and morbid cases of SARS-2. Not to worry, Pfizer’s on it !

  • Joseph Lampe says:

It would be great to see you again and visit with like minded folks. By Feb I should be fully recovered from my Covid saga.

  • James L. Edholm says:

I’ll be goddoned if I’ma gonna leave Florida to go to Minneapolis! For that matter, I’m not sure I’d leave Boston to go to Minneapolis. How about tying the celebration into your next trip to Florida? You’d then have TWO things to celebrate!

  • Debbie M says:

    I’m in! Great idea, Kevin!

  • DuluthGuy says:

I’ll definitely try to make it if I can make it work. I should be in Minneapolis the weekend of 2/4-2/6 anyway. Hoping to ski the Loppet if there’s enough snow for a point-to-point race from Lake Calhoun (I forget what they call it now) up to Theo Wirth Park.

  • Abhijit Bakshi says:

    This is a fantastic idea.

(being far from Minnesota and banned from entering USA due to your President Asterisk’s injection policies I will not join but I hope you get outrageously huge numbers.)

  • Bill in Seminole, FL says:

I’m in Florida so a trip to Minnesota in February is not in the cards (avg. high temp is low to mid-70s). But, would like to attend via Zoom, if that is an option.

    • Kevin Roche says:

I will be in Florida, near Ft. Myers, a fair amount this winter, so maybe we should organize a party there too!!!

  • Thomas L Heller says:

Ideally, Florida or Sweden would be the perfect venues – they have followed the science on viruses and have
shown us all the right way!

  • Rob says:

Great idea! I wouldn’t be able to go but people within a couple hours drive would probably love it! Hopefully the IB and associated Karens don’t crash the party.

  • dan janisch says:

    I’m in

  • T Romano says:

That sounds like a great idea!

  • Stacey Atneosen says:

Yes 👍 I love the idea Kevin but let’s keep it local. There is a great brewery in Eagan- Bald man Brewing or another in Lakeville.

  • Jessica Benson says:

This is a great idea! There’s nothing better than being together and celebrating with like-minded people. Will this be a maskless event? 😉
Kevin, It would be an honor to meet you. You were a huge voice of reason for me during this BS.

  • James Austin says:

Mr Roche – I am a former Minneapolitan (Plymouth mostly) who now lives in Fort Myers. There are lots of us here. It would be very fun to meet you and other readers of your excellent commentary. I also have a son who practices elder law in the TC area, and will make sure he knows of this effort.

Thanks so much for all that you do!
    Best,
    James Austin
