New York did a horrible job handling the epidemic and paid a very high human toll. As the case surges wind down in Texas, Arizona and Florida, the cases are higher in Texas and Florida than they were in New York, but collectively across the three states they are far higher, although the total population of those states is much higher than New York’s as well. Partly the additional cases are due to more testing. But deaths collectively in those three states will never come close to New York’s. It is pretty obvious which states handled the epidemic better, as the chart below reflects. Thanks to the Internet for the chart. So Cuomo should get the boot and the Governors of Texas, Arizona and Florida should be applauded, for their relative performances if we are going to hold governors responsible.
