This is for those people who email me and say the nothing bad is happening as a result of the shutdown orders. I have posted on the horrific job losses. Now, as you would expect, people are deeply anxious and depressed and use of mental illness meds has risen substantially. (Drug Use Report) I cannot at all understand people being so concerned about a relatively few deaths from coronavirus and being so callous and disregardful of the enormous tragedy being imposed on tens of millions of Americans.

I cannot at all understand people being so callous and disregardful of the enormous tragedy being imposed on the spouses, children, parents and friends due to deaths from COVID-19. Once someone is dead there is no coming back.
Are the shutdown or Stay at Home directives as earth shattering that individuals should be displaying mental health problems? Not as bad as the death of a love one. Individuals who have been furloughed or laid off have a multitude of life lines. There’s unemployment insurance, the $600 monthly unemployment payment and the recent stimulus payment. There are no eviction declarations and it appears that banks, utilities, insurance companies and a whole host of other industries are delaying or reducing payments.
Businesses have a massive loan/grant programs to assist during this time.
Slowly, the economy will reopen and recover. The same can’t be said for some virus victims.
