I will just say the obvious again–no one is born in the wrong body. Gender ideology is based on warped sexual and gender stereotyping that I though we had buried in the 1970s and 1980s–if you like to do this or that you must be a man or a woman. And that ideology has been perverted by the medical profession to make endless dollars off the misery of mentally troubled children and young people. It is despicable and shameful. And it has zero support in the research. Like climate research, it is hard to do real gender research in the US–you can’t get published if you aren’t woke. But other countries are more committed to real science and what they find has led to changes in policy.
The most recent is a study from Finland of young people supposedly suffering from gender dysphoria. What it finds is what has been universally found by good research–treating this delusion with drugs or surgery does nothing to alleviate the underlying mental health symptoms, and probably causes new ones. Finland has excellent data and was able to look at all individuals who underwent this barbaric treatment. What they found was alarming–those seeking surgery had extremely high rates of serious mental health issues. That alone should be reason not to do any treatment until the underlying mental health issues are resolved. No one in that position should be allowed to make such horrific decisions. And the mental health of those who underwent surgery worsened after surgery. Why–its obvious, you ruin your body and your sexual life, you will likely have bad mental health. (Wiley Article)
As a result of this body of research, many countries have banned this brutality for young people. In the US, the solution will come either by regulation but more likely through lots of lawsuits. Already insurers won’t provide malpractice coverage for ruining a young person’s life. But we should not rest until not a single doctor is willing to engage in barbarity for dollars.
