The Anti-Strib, Week Ending April 5, 2026

So what has our favorite local paper been up to lately?  Nothing new, same old ideologically driven reporting, same shrinking paper that the owner would give away to anyone willing to eat the losses and the pension liabilities.  You will note a dreary consistency in the stories published, most of which are cribbed from AP, NYTimes, Wash Post, etc.

Monday March 30–the state might lose some grants from the Feds for rural health, because the state insists on using them in a discriminatory fashion, not according to who is most in need, regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, etc.  Car thefts are up in Minneapolis because of technology.  No they are up because Minneapolis has far too few police and those that are on the force are demoralized and see no point in trying to arrest criminals who will just be let go.  The Iran war is bad, very bad.  Trump is going to get TSA agents paid, since Dems refuse to help these low-income working people, but airport lines will still be long; except they weren’t, they disappeared immediately with ICE help and this order.  Turns out the whacked Dem policy of banning suspending disruptive students from school was really bad, so now the state legislature is reconsidering it.  A local town is fed up with incredible spending and taxing.  All of Minnesota needs to revolt over this.

March 31–Still raving about a US missile maybe hitting a school in Iran.  The Strib has given more coverage to this potentially false story than it gave to the slaughter of tens of thousands of Iranians by the insane Islamist government there.  A local non-profit is going broke, but the Strib can’t be bothered to examine compensation practices at the entity or what is really happening with the millions in donations it receives.

April 1–You could take the entire paper as an April Fool’s joke.  Apparently only 4000 people were arrested during the immigration enforcement push this year, which is far too few.  The paper says most lacked a criminal history, but they are all criminals–they came to the US in violation of the laws.  And the paper refuses to insist on receiving actual records from state and local government on arrests and crimes committed by illegal immigrants.  The Iran war is having terrible economic effects.  The Supreme Court upends conversion therapy bans, which are badly misnamed–those laws were designed to assist in recruiting and keeping children in certain sexual orientations and gender ideology.  As usual, Justice Jackson beclowns herself in the only dissent.  There are many very bright and competent African-American lawyers and judges; Biden couldn’t have picked one of those?

April 2–The Supreme Court is dubious about ending birthright citizenship, with Justice Jackson making even more of a fool of herself during oral arguments.  Minnesota is a template for fighting fraud?  Only if you intend to do the opposite of what Walz and Ellison did.  Trump keeps trying to make voting fair and accurate and Dems keep fighting because if they have to stop cheating they will never win.

April 3–The Minneapolis police chief has lots of complaints filed against him, but the paper won’t acknowledge that they are from officers fed up with his refusal to actually enforce the law and support them in doing their jobs.  The value of downtown office buildings in Minneapolis continues its free fall as businesses flee the crime-ridden eyesore.  The city is compensating by screwing home owners with inflated valuations.  God forbid the city should actually cut its excessive spending.  The Iran war is still going terribly and will ruin everything.

April 4–I posted on this elsewhere, but the main headline is about the state’s fake high graduation rate.  It happened because Minnesota public schools have given up on educating in favor of indoctrination and have no-fail policies.  The scores on math and reading proficiency tell the real story, and it is very bad, but the Strib doesn’t mention that.  Unfortunately the Strib must report that the latest employment report was strong, contrary to its thesis that everything is bad under Trump.  Hegseth is firing military officers who created an ineffective, ideological military; shame on him.

April 5–The most hilarious thing the paper has published in a long time is a column by the supposed out-state representative which is either deeply ironic or a belated April Fool’s prank.  She complains that a paper in Moorhead might be removing radical, left-wing voices.  Look in the mirror and stop pretending you in any way represent the views of out-state Minnesotans.  The main store is more mythology around the attempt to remove illegal immigrants.  The Strib is desperately hoping for a Pulitizer as it continues lying and ignoring facts that don’t fit its narrative.  The obsession with Trump adding a decent sized ballroom for events of state continues.
