Walz Has a Close Competitor for Most Buffoonish Governor

By February 25, 2026Commentary3 min read

Close in more ways than one.  We here is Minnesota are surrounded by generally saner and far better run states, with the exception of our largest neighbor, Wisconsin, which has plunged down the same path to abysmal mediocrity.  Wisconsin has more of an excuse because it is right next door to Chicago and Illinois, which are vying with NYC and California for worst-run city and state in the entire country.  Tony Evers is the governor and he apparently is both as stupid and mendacious as Little Timmy.  Evers most recently defended having lots of illegal immigrants in Wisconsin.  Why?  So they can be exploited as a cheap source of labor.  No mention by Evers, as with Walz, of the immense cost to Wisconsin of having this population, nor of the crimes committed by quite a few illegal immigrants.

Here the reality about having an immense number of illegal immigrants flood the country, aside from the high risk that many criminals, including drug runners, are among them.  They are as Evers says, a source of labor that can be hired extremely cheaply and who won’t complain no matter how bad the working conditions are.  It is a slightly upscale form of slavery.  So of course Dems, hewing to their historical role, support illegal immigration.  Meanwhile we have a large group of people in the US who have little or no interest in working, although they are fully capable of doing so, and who live off the taxpayers, including claiming various disabilities.  It is disgraceful, but part of the disincentive to work for native born Americans is the low pay caused largely by the availability of cheap illegal immigrant labor.  Getting rid of illegal immigrants will force employers to pay more to get workers and/or figure out how to become more productive through technology and other means.  This may raise prices, but it also means we will have more people earning a decent living.

The real secret to a good labor market is to implement strict work requirements for any government aid program, really strict–if you can do any kind of job you have to take it; to completely review all Social Security disability recipients and make the test much harder to get on that program, to eliminate illegal immigrant competition and to provide free job training for occupations we really need–people who can work in manufacturing and engineering, while also encouraging productivity growth.  (TH Post)
