Once More on the Dangers of THC to Adolescents

I am hoping the medical community stands up and pushes forcefully for re-regulation of marijuana and THC products based on all the recent research confirming that this is a very dangerous drug, particularly for adolescents and young adults.  A new large study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, explored the consequences of even infrequent use among over 460,000 teens aged 13 to 17.  By age 26, such usage was associated with substantially higher risk, as much as twice as likely to occur, depression, anxiety, bipolar disease and pyschosis.  The analysis was based on self-reported usage, so actual usage was likely higher and the increased risk greater.  In addition to the clear mental health risks, these individuals also undoubtedly had greater difficulty continuing with education, finding meaningful work and forming relationships.  (JAMA Article)
