Catching up on the Star Tribune, January 15, 2026

I missed this worthless rag for a couple of weeks and have been busy since returning and it is an unpleasant task but I am catching up in a couple of posts.  As you can imagine, given the state of things in Minnesota, the paper has been working overtime to defend the whacked DFL policies here.  Minnesota is a true laughing-stock, worse than California in its complete failure as a state.  Huge amounts of taxpayer dollars siphoned off, mostly by the Somali community which has completely failed to integrate or become productive.  Public officials who encourage the presence of illegal immigrants who are criminals and who encourage violence against law enforcement officials who are seeking to remove them.  It is an embarrassment and a disgrace and the Strib actively cheerleads for it.

A newspaper should engage in journalism; should be investigating government on a regular basis and reporting any suspicious activities to the public.  The Strib is a literal arm of the Dem party here and both on the editorial page and in its reporting refuses to tell the full truth or present actual facts.  And unfortunately many residents rely on the paper for news; instead they get propaganda.  The propaganda extends to every part of the paper.  On January 12, the business section says there is harrassment of Somali businesses.  Somalis engaged in widespread fraud against government programs, there is every reason to suspect they also commit large-scale tax fraud and participate in vote fraud.  Instead of expressing concern about what is happening in that community and investigating it, the Strib spends time minimizing the fraud and decrying alleged mistreatment, which is pure bullshit.

On January 15, the Strib reports on supposed negative effects of immigration enforcement on businesses in Minnesota.  How about reporting on the effects on the state economy of stealing billions from taxpayers and giving illegal immigrant criminals free rein in the state?  Does the Strib think this makes Minnesota an attractive state for businesses or workers?  Even the sports section isn’t free of this lunacy, on January 12 the top story is about high school athletes being affected by immigration enforcement.  If you come here illegally, you should expect to eventually face the consequences.  There are legal ways to get into the country.

It is hard to respond to so many days of bad reporting, with the frauds and immigration enforcement dominating the news.  Suffice it to say that the tenor of the Strib reporting is to minimize the frauds and to paint those violently obstructing immigration enforcement as heroes.  Not once, not one single time has the Strib identified that those being arrested and detained are criminals, are those who had detention orders from the Biden Administration, are dangers to the communities they live in.  Other media sources have had to fill that role.  There is no widespread “raiding” of businesses; there is largely execution of existing orders to remove gang members and criminals.  But you won’t find that out reading the Strib.  And you won’t learn that the officer who shot the woman trying to run him over was in fact injured.  Nor will you read about the criminal backgrounds of the Venezuelans involved in a second shooting.

And not a word of condemnation for the reckless words from Fat Timmy and completely incompetent Mayor Frey, these clowns are responsible for encouraging the criminals to come to Minnesota and rob us blind.  And now they openly incite violence against law enforcement officials.  And no stories on how Little Timmy used threats and retaliation to keep fraud from being investigated.  Instead the Strib is happy to use immigration enforcement to avoid any stories on the fraud.  And a hilarious story about how there isn’t a lot of illegal voting by illegal immigrants–how would you know when the state refuses to let anyone audit the voting rolls?  Trump cheers protesters in Iran, but not in Minnesota; a story of course from the NYTimes since the Strib does no real journalism.  Really, you are going to treat the situations as equivalent.  Beyond pathetic.

In other news, of course Trump-bashing is the main theme.  He is picking on Jerome Powell.  He had no right to capture Maduro.  He is endangering NATO by insisting on addressing the Greenland security issue.  The usual climate and environmental hysteria.  Meanwhile, locally, crime is rampant, businesses are closing, taxes are way up, education is awful.   The Strib is a major contributor to why Minnesota is the mess it is.
