Because of the huge amount of money involved, a lot of which flows to politicians as campaign contributions, THC, marijuana, cannibis, whatever you want to call it, has been legalized in many states and the federal government is proposing to ease regulation as well. The early wedge to this movement was supposed medical use to benefit patients, which was always bullshit. As usual this is just about politicians and money. Because the evidence is incontrovertible that use of this drug makes people lazy and dumb. And for adolescents and young adults it is a clear threat to mental health. Medical professionals have been warning for years about these dangers. And now we have lots of young children turning up in ERs poisoned by edibles. Politicians don’t care as long as the money keeps flowing.
And of course, there really was no medical benefit to THC, as shown by a recent huge review of the research. Here is the key sentence “Evidence is insufficient for the use of cannabis or cannabinoids for most medical indications.” Whatever minor benefit THC may have for a couple of conditions is outweighed by the risks, and there are alternatives available. This is a dangerous drug and it should be treated as such. How many young people do we need to drive insane or young children do we need to poison before politicians act? (JAMA Review)

Absolutely correct
“There Is No Medical Benefit from THC Use”
The review does not say that. It does say that many medical uses are not supported by evidence. That implies that other uses are supported by evidence. So it seems that “medical marijuana” is overused (I bet I can guess why), but there may be a place for it.
I agree that legalization of recreational marijuana is a huge and destructive mistake.
it essentially says there is no overall medical benefit, when the risks are considered, and especially when there are alternative treatments.
they identify only a very few uses where there may be some very small evidence of benefit, which then has to be weighed against the always present risks
