Hey, you have another opportunity to hear me drone on and on about a topic. I am going to speak at the Maple Grove Community Center on January 10 at 10am. The talk will be on US health care spending, why it is high and what we can do about it. Regular readers know I have a few opinions on that. Anyway, please come, love to meet as many of you as possible in person and thank you for reading.

Would like to hear your comments on health care and especially health care costs. Based on my semi educated guess, the primary reason for the much higher health care spending in the US vs other countries is the disconnect from the normal supply and demand constraints. ie, the normal market pressure on the insurance companies to reduce payments to providers ( doctors and hospitals, et al) seems to be lacking.
I am not sure how to fix that problem without some form of rationing via nationalized health care. Thus my interest in hearing your thoughts.
FWIW – There is considerable commentary from the left which doesnt seem to reflect any understanding of health care in general, costs, or any of the basics associated with reasons for differences in life expectancies among various countries.
