Since Little Timmy Walz became Governor, Minnesota’s environment for families and business has deteriorated sharply, accelerating the decline begun under the prior Dem Governor. The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce releases a report detailing just how bad it is gotten. The report compares Minnesota to other states on a variety of metrics. We don’t look good, to put it mildly. I am sure the Incompetent Blowhard will counter with one of his business climate based on woke bullshit surveys. In the real world, we suck. (Chamber Report)
Our post-inflation, per capita GDP growth is only 1% annualized in the years 2019 to 2024, 38th among all states. Our labor force growth is .2% annualized, 40th among all states. We had 49,000 net losses in domestic migration, 41st (less is best) among states, and really worse if you looked at it as a percent of population. In per capita household income we are a little better, at 33rd, but we are 46th in median household income growth. All of those numbers have worsened since the prior cycle of 2007 to 2019. Congratulations Fat Timmy.
The reasons are obvious–our tax climate is abominable, for individuals and businesses. We are a regulatory and bureaucratic nightmare. Our education system has declined precipitously. There will be no reversal of these trends until the Dems are booted out of the Governor’s office and the legislature.
