I mentioned in my most recent post on this topic that leaving aside the urban heat island effect on temperatures, it isn’t clear to me that the world has warmed beyond the boundaries of typical variability, and if it has, that while human activities may be partly to blame, it isn’t use of fossil fuels or cow farts that are the cause. This study gives further impetus to that perspective, finding an astounding contrast between temperatures in metropolitan areas around the world and the surrounding more rural regions. The land surface temperature was examined in ten metro areas around the world. Industrial areas have higher temperatures; heavily vegetated areas and those near water, lower ones.
An interesting side note is that airports are 2.5 degrees Centigrade higher than the surrounding area, and guess what, a lot of the reported temps used by hysterics are from those airport weather stations. Don’t rely on any temperatures other than those in well-sited rural areas; that is the best source for accurate data on what is actually happening with global temps. And since more CO2 means more plant growth and plants have a clear cooling effect on surface temps, there is another feedback that would reduce any potential effect of more CO2 on temps.
