A Few Days of the Anti-Strib, July 2025, Part 2

By July 24, 2025Commentary5 min read

Taking quite a while to catch up.  In the meantime, in a somewhat hilarious twist, the Star Tribune dutifully has picked up the absurd notion that Trump somehow had anything to do with Epstein’s horrific behavior, including with a big front page top headline today.  The facts appear to be that as you would expect with two big-ego New Yorkers, Trump and Epstein long ago knew each other and were at social events at the same time.  There are a lot of big social events and parties in New York City so that is not surprising.  Both Epstein and Trump said that they had a disagreement and basically stopped speaking to each other, again, long ago.  There is zero evidence that Trump ever went to Epstein’s island or ever had anything to do with Epstein’s criminal and unsavory behavior.

But because they are a bunch of losers who are deeply unpopular and Trump is being successful at implementing his policy goals, the Dems are desperately grabbing at anything that might undermine him.  And the Star Tribune and other papers and media sources are doing their part as official Dem party mouthpieces by repeating this completely meaningless trivia, and implying some wrongdoing.  Trump’s name may be in some document in some file on the Epstein investigation, but so are hundreds of other names.  A lot of these are probably, Epstein was at a party and this person, that person, all these other people were there.  So what.  Only in whacked Dem-land and at the Strib could this have any significance.  Today’s headline is just one example.  In another day’s story the Strib referred to Trump as an Epstein “friend”.  That is completely untrue and no one has ever said they were friends; at most they were acquaintances.  But why bother with the truth when a lie is needed to meet your objective of helping Dems and damaging Trump.

The tariff and trade issues, which are concerning, have largely slipped from the headlines, particularly as agreements are reached with various countries.  But to the extent it is covered, every story is about the negative impacts, with no recognition of any positives that may occur, or of the national security implications of being dependent on countries like China for certain critical items.   One headline said Trump’s tariffs raised inflation in June.  Another lie, inflation was lower than expected and there were no signals of significant tariff-caused inflation.

Also still some stories about how terrible it is that people who entered this country illegally are being deported.  This is a complex issue, and we aren’t going to deport 15 or 20 million people, whatever the number is.  But they did come here illegally, they are not a universal economic blessing, and there are a large number of criminals among the illegal immigrants.  The Strib coverage focuses on nothing but the supposed tragedy of being deported, with no mention of the crimes committed in Minnesota by this population, including importation of large amounts of illegal drugs.  And I love the essentially racist commentary from Dems, most recently exemplified by Hunter Biden, about who is going to wipe our butts, wash our dishes, pick our crops, etc.  Somehow that work all got done before the massive surge in illegal immigration under Biden.  The reality is that many employers hire these workers because they can pay them less and treat them worse.  And where there have been mass deportations, somehow the employers have managed to quickly find legal workers to make up for the losses.  You aren’t going to read any of that in the Strib.  In fact in a story about a restaurant owner who appears to clearly be involved in drug smuggling and other crimes and who has been deported multiple times, the Strib seems to be complaining about his treatment.

Also lingering stories on the evil Big Beautiful Bill cutting so many benefits and just flat-out killing people.  I don’t like the bill either, but mostly because it did so little to actually cut spending and fix the tax give-aways to very rich people.  Somehow everyone will survive these non-existent cuts.

The Strib has also taken to publishing more anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian stories, focussing on the supposed misery endured by this population.  But it is important to remember that basically 100% of these people supported Hamas and supported the butchery toward Israelis.  Whatever is happending to them know was prompted by that.

The usual gibberish about climate change, while ignoring that Minnesota’s “renewable” driven grid changes are driving electricity costs sky-high and promising blackouts in the near future.  Cuts are hurting the weather service.  Like all federal agencies, it was grossly overstaffed.

Steven Colbert is losing his $20 million a year gig, which creates a $40 million dollar loss for CBS, and somehow that is the end of democracy.  Colbert never was funny, has become a ranting partisan hack with no audience, but how our democracy can survive his show ending is unclear.
