Little Timmy was all in a lather last year when CNBC, part of the same broadcasting family as the infamous and soon to be extinct MSNBC, released a survey saying Minnesota was the 5th best state for business. You had to look at the categories to understand how bogus the survey was. In any event, this year the state has declined to number 10, the biggest drop for any state. In reality we are about number 45, just above California, New York, Illinois and New Jersey. If you look at the survey details, what you will see is that for a sub-category like “Economy” we are 28th. Or “Workforce–30th”. How about “Cost of Doing Business”–34th. “Cost of Living”–33rd. Then there a bunch of less relevant categories where Minnesota supposedly ranks high, which brings the overall score up. So we rank high, 4th, on Quality of Life, which includes a bunch of DEI factors. (CNBC Survey)
