I was gone all of last week and still catching up on a lot of stuff this week, and really, the Star Tribune follows the same playbook every single day on basically the same issues. I think the editors literally have a list on the wall of all the bad things to focus on that a Rep does and all the bad things Dems do that should be ignored. Readers know how I feel about the trade issues, and that for weeks that has been the focus of the Strib bashing of Trump, but what is missing is any reporting on the trade policies of other countries and how the US might benefit from some restructuring that really is a little fairer.
On a state level, not a word of criticism of Dems for how they have run the state into the ground economically and socially. As usual, any discussion of the impending large deficit avoids pinning the blame on Fat Timmy and tends to be very negative about Reps solutions to the issue. We have a metro light rail project that is billions over budget and years behind schedule, a legislative auditor has issued several scathing reports about mismangement, all by Dems, which the paper manages to never mention.
Illegal immigration still pops up, again always painted in the light of how mean trying to stop it or to deport people here illegally is. A new twist is to focus on those here on Visas who demonize the country or engage in clearly anti-semitic and other racist behavior, and who are threatened with getting kicked out of the country. There is no “right” to a visa for anyone, so there is no legal or moral basis for any concerns about what is done. Why is the paper condoning anti-semitic and racist behavior? Why would we want those people here?
There was an earthquake in Myanmar and the US government has done nothing to help and the USAID cuts are to blame. What we can’t help create a transgender, race critical response? Why is this our responsibility when we have a $2 trillion deficit. Economists say Trump’s science policies pose long-term risk. The only risk is that the groups getting all these bullshit grants might not be able to keep recycling them to Dem party candidates. On the plus side we might get some actual science done that helps the economy. Dems are angry at their leaders for not doing more to stop Trump policies–yes, please keep this up, please put the absolute whackos even more in charge of the party.
Layoffs slow FDA medical device approvals. No it hasn’t, this is typical made-up crap that the Strib gives the top front-page headline to. Aside from using “reportedly” twice in the first sentence, a indicator of the pathetic writing style that pervades the Strib, and which gives the lie to the entire pretext for the story, this is just more bash Trump crap. Meanwhile postal service in parts of Minnesota is dreadful, no mention again that this agency’s mismanagement has been ignored, really propped up, by Dems.
Trump played golf while the markets crashed. Hmmm, I don’t remember any stories about Bidementia being at the beach on vacation over half the time. Trump works his ass off, constantly, and he is constantly available to the press. Social Security website keeps crashing. I have bad news for the Strib, the SS information system sucks and has sucked for decades and Dems did nothing about it. Musk’s team can probably fix it in a week.
You get the picture and I won’t rot your brain with any further regurgitation of this worthless dreck.
The Strip and the rest of left are worried about illegals being deported. Did anyone notice with Hamas , Illegal aliens, criminals, etc, how the left are on the side of the bad guys
Kevin mentions USAID.
One thing that has come to light with DOGE and USAID is the extent of taxpayer money that is funnelled to democrat party operatives and how little of the money actually goes for program services. Basically, most of the government aid programs are a cesspools of corruption and self dealing.
