The Anti-Strib, March 24, 2025

By March 24, 2025Commentary2 min read

A couple of general themes are well-represented in today’s paper.  The first is that we should feel very sorry for these poor illegal immigrants who are being picked up and deported by the Trump administration.  Maybe the paper could at least point out that they are here ILLEGALLY, that they had the choice to attempt entrance legally.  And the cost of these illegal immigrants to the taxpayers is very high.  The second theme, from a story in the business section is that we should feel very sorry for all these federal workers being discomfitted by the DOGE activities.  Might want to point out that federal workers are paid far more than their counterparts in the private sector, get far better benefits, including an absurd pension plan, and do far less work.  They are unfirable and no one holds them accountable for actually getting anything done.  So don’t waste one minute of sympathy on them.

Amazingly, the front page notes that our beloved Little Timmy Walz, liar extraordinaire, doesn’t meet with Republican legislators.  The Governor on his tour of staged town halls which only admit paid Dem whackos explicitly said he will never be bipartisan, and he has proven that in Minnesota.  But of course the Strib, which is his chief apologist, tries hard in the story to identify the one or two times he has even acknowledged that Reps do exist in the Minnesota legislature.

Regarding kevin’s comment on government employees –

When I graduated with a degree in accounting in the late 1970’s there was a very well known caste system for post graduation employment.

the top tier students went to work for the large accounting firms getting the highest level of pay,
the middle tier students went to work for industry or a smaller accounting firm and got mid level compensation,
The bottom tier students could only get jobs working for the government / IRS ( or other low level accounting clerical positions) and got the bottom level pay.

Not sure if the full blown caste system is still in play today, though it was extremely obvious in the 1970’s and continued at least through the late 1990’s
