The Anti-Strib, While I Was Gone

By March 21, 2025Commentary4 min read

I took one of my regular sojourns to Florida for the last couple of weeks, so I missed my daily blood pressure-raising dose of the Minnesota Star Tribune.  I don’t waste time looking for that piece of dreck online.  But here are just from the front page some of the headlines I missed, or not.  So here we go.

Erosion of IRS puts mission in peril.  Seriously?  The IRS has been woefully ineffective at catching fraud and abuse.  It uses outdated software, it is a prime candidate for artificial intelligence use.  Elon should focus here instead of on foreign affairs.  Migration key to state growth.  You bet it is, because Minnesota is losing working families by the thousands.  People want low-tax states with good education systems, not Minnesota’s whacked political indoctrination and highest overall taxes in the country, maybe even more than California’s.  On the other hand we are great at attracting illegal immigrants who cost the state a fortune.

Brooklyn Center, a Minneapolis suburb, has continuing policing tensions.  Yeah, because after defunding and disparaging the police crime rates are up and residents are not happy.  This was based on yet another hoax about the improper killing of a young black man, who tried to kill a police officer.

Canada, EU hit back on tariffs.  Trump causing chaos and consumer pain with tariffs is a constant theme of the front page.  Bad, Trumpy, bad, bad Trumpy.  U of Minnesota faculty upset about limts on speech.  The U doesn’t want its whacked faculty appearing to be making statements about issues on behalf of the U, which is quite reasonable.  But what is really bizarre is that the U faculty have done everything they can to suppress the speech of anyone who isn’t on the far, far, far, far left.

Trump is told to rehire thousands of workers.  Bad Trumpy, very bad Trumpy.  None of these stories ever go into the legitimate and serious issue about why courts should have the power to determine what the executive branch does in regard to federal employees.  The Supreme Court needs to end this nonsense soon.

Dems “acquiesce” to prevent shutdown.  Pretty hilarious framing of the congressional Democratic quandary regarding extending funding of the federal government.

Refugee resettlement in turmoil.  The “refugee” scam needs to end, it is nothing but a fraudulent way for people to get in the country and collect thousands in various benefits.  Why are we letting people come here instead of supporting them in their own countries to change whatever they are supposedly fleeing from.  Tourists may not come to the US because of Trump’s talk.  Bad, Trumpy, very bad Trumpy.  Who cares?  Less foreign currency converted into dollars makes no difference at all.

Trump lawyer stonewalls judge.  Damn, bad Trumpy, bad, bad Trumpy.  This in regards to the El Salvador flights of illegal criminal immigrants.  Those people have no rights under our constitution and the sooner they are deported the better.  Omar (Ilhan Omar, our anti-semitic, racist, dumb Congressperson for Minneapolis) faces renewed attacks from GOP.  She is a liar and got into the US fraudulently by marrying her brother.  She deserves to be attacked.  Cuts reach nuclear scientists.  I think what we are learning is that every single agency in the US government is filled with non-working, incompetent staff who get paid a lot for doing nothing.

Roberts rebukes Trump attacks.  This is getting old—bad Trumpy, bad, bad Trumpy.  Fat Timmy Walz is attacking Musk at town halls (Little Timmy has never held a town hall in Minnesota and only allows whacked Dems into the ones he is doing).  I covered this yesterday, but just want to point out that Timmy is favored by a whopping 2% of Dems to be their leader.  I guess you can be too weird even for Dems.  And in his latest humiliation, Fatso was on Gavin Newsome’s podcast where he said his masculinity was threatening to Trump voters, at which point Newsome burst out laughing.  What more need I say.
