So seems like a good day to tell you about my most recent reading, a book on the history of jokes, hard to think of a more apt topic on a day when Fat Timmy Walz gets picked to be a VP candidate. Poor widdle Timmy has already gotten more negative press in one day that he received the entire time he has been Governor. And believe me, he is such a target rich environment that it will never stop until the election is over and he has helped Harris lose. No one has a clue what she was thinking; but partly it appears that Shapiro decided he didn’t want to work for her, which just verifies that he is a smart person. Vance is going to rip Timmy to pieces.
But back to my real topic. Jim Holt wrote an interesting very short book called, well it is the title of this post. Since I enjoy humor, thank goodness, or I would have hung myself long ago, I was curious to read about the history of jokes, which really haven’t been around all that long and are kind of a western civilization invention. Mr. Holt delves into the literal history of jokes and explores the primary theories as to what humor and jokes do for the human mind and soul. One fascinating item is that the same categories of jokes have been around since ancient times, fart jokes for example. The book is entertaining and educational.
But the most startling thing is that as far as I can tell, Mr. Holt has only written one other book, which I read some time ago. I happened to be telling a friend about that book, so I thought I would look and see what he had written since, and came across the joke book. The first book is called Why Does the World Exist. It is a serious and comprehensive look at the most perplexing and basic of all questions that humans ask themselves–why and how is there something, anything, instead of nothing. Mr. Holt covers both the philosophical and scientific search for answers to that question, and I strongly, strongly encourage you to read it. The book isn’t overly technical and is very approachable for such a difficult topic.
And since it often occurs to me that life is but a cruel joke from an uncaring universe, I can understand how Mr. Holt next wrote a book on humor. Dylan once said that “there are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke, but you and I we’ve been through that and this is not our fate”. So back to the start, Fat Timmy is no joke, he is a destroyer of decent society and lives, truly a despicable and dishonorable human being. And I will do everything I can to prevent his election.
If you’re not out of laughs at the two buffoons the Dem Party has put up for election, watch this. It’s funny but also a sobering commentary on the direction we are going.

I found another one … ‘When Einstein Walked with Godel” … sounds deep, but probably also worth a read. Thanks for sharing this author!
Good stuff, Kevin. The GOP needs to continue – nonstop – to lay out the bad news about Kamala and her fat boyfriend. There’s lots of it, and most of it is fortunately tied to issues in the campaign. It isn’t as easy or as stupid as simply calling all Republicans “weird,” but that’s OK because most Trump supporters are far smarter than the hoards of mindless Democrat low-info voters.
