An updated look at this analysis. The hospitalization and death rates per case have been remarkably steady for a long time. The apparent bump upward in the summer is purely an artifact of reduced testing in school-aged groups during that period. Same thing likely accounts for the small bump over the winter school holidays. Alpha, Delta, schmeltda, no variant seems any worse than another. Thank you to Dave Dixon.
